Efforts by the NCAA to reform its self-governance have begun in earnest today with the adoption of a new constitution for the organization. The big news is that all 3 divisions (schools and conferences) will now have much more say in how they operate. It will be up to each division to self-govern. A 21 member “transformation” committee is charged with deliberations regarding D1 issues. “ The questions before the transformation committee include the requirements for Division I membership; who has a say in making rules across the division; what schools and conferences get automatic access to championship events; how revenue is shared; and what limits, if any, should be placed on financial benefits to athletes?” Associated Press Article
