Supreme Court will rule on the lawsuit brought by Jeffery Kessler in May. The next few years promise to be more tumultuous off the court and field than on it. No sit transfer is just a harbinger of what's to come.

Most interesting part of the study is that they included budgets from the MAAC. Q women's basketball has a $2.7M budget vs. Marist's $1.9M. Mens basketball budget is 4th lowest in the MAAC. Our "peers" Q and FF leading the way spending $3.2M. Monmouth $2.7M, and Marist at $2.3M...outspending only the Buffalo schools and St. Peter's. Siena also putting in $3.2M for men's basketball, over half of their entire men's athletics budget.

Some interesting data in there. Third in men's budget, 4th in women's budget. 4th overall (6th when you factor in expenses not allocated by sport). 1 in number of athletes participating. Pretty decent and about what I would expect. Crazy how much QU and Monmouth spend. I don't see how Monmouth's football program is worth it.
Sidenote - that story about the Hartford President is embarrassing. Guy has lost all credibility.

Monmouth goes to the playoffs (they have those in football! You'd never know it from following Marist) and puts guys in the NFL. That's what they get out of it.
Totally agree the Hartford prez is a schmuck and should be run out of town on a rail.

I have a very different take than most people admittedly will on what happened with Hartford and the bottom line is I would not be surprised at all to see more schools follow their lead in the future.
If the whole end result of what's going on with the NCAA results in college athletes being paid, well, that money to pay up has to come from somewhere. We know it won't come from coaches or administrators reducing their salaries. Mid-majors could be faced with the prospect of having to drop down or cut a lot of sports in order to fund a salaried basketball team, football team, etc.
For some schools where sports are just a nice to have, enhances the student experience, etc., I could very much see those schools saying it isn't worth it. Hartford may have arrived at this conclusion for the wrong reasons but they might not be the last.
