Michigan State will cut both its swim teams at the end of the school year. Pathetic, they are probably less than 1% of the AD budget.

many places are finding swimming to be a white elephant - particularly if you have an old facility that needs replacing soon or one that's not even regulation. Maintenance costs are higher than what the bean counters think the program is worth, even if swimming's operational costs are relatively low.

Bethune-Cookman is the first D1 school to cancel the remainder of 20-21 athletics.
They are leaving the MEAC for the SWAC in July along with Florida A&M.

some catchup stuff: Hampton cancels all athletics for the year EXCEPT men's and women's basketball.
William & Mary completes the circle of shooting itself in the face, reinstating the 4 men's sports (they had previously brought back the 3 women's programs) they cut last month.
Clemson cuts men's cross country plus men's indoor and outdoor track & field. That last one is ridiculous to me. It's CLEMSON, man. How do you not stack the sprint events with football players? Florida does that and they win national titles in men's track regularly. Crazy.

I do not see how this happens - with the direction of the country.
Marist’s Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Iona College announced today that a positive COVID-19 test within the men’s basketball program has forced the Gaels to cancel or postpone their first four games while the team is in 14-day isolation, starting with the Nov. 25 non-conference game against Fordham.

Marist is on the verge as it is. They're in the middle of the biggest outbreak so far on campus, but the good news is that they only have another week of classes anyway before Thanksgiving and online finals.
Going be a dark winter, unfortunately. On the plus side, that vaccine looks like it's legit.

I hope the whole of Division I just pauses things until like February 1, push the NCAA tournament back a few months and try again. This is getting too stupid even for me to enjoy, and I'm generally down with some stupid.

Cal State Northridge cancelled the season for women's basketball when 6 of their 12 players opted out. Hearing they've done the same for women's volleyball "fall in the spring."

The really big thing is basketball has to happen at some point this year. If that means starting the season in February and having the tournament in May or whatever, that's fine by me.
No money from no tournament again is going to be the death of midmajor D1.

Azusa Pacific, the last Division II football program in California, discontinues the FB program. Christian Okoye, "the Nigerian Nightmare" is probably the most notable alum of APU Football.

NCAA just gave blanket waiver saying all transfers are now eligible for this year. Wow.
