Parity does just enough to survive another year.

Yellen, have you seen enough yet?
This program needs new leadership.

Coaching staff doesn’t give a rat’s butt. That how that kind of stuff happens. This snafu should insure wholesale changes get made.

I am a long-time lurker here (recently retired from Marist after 30 years - probably taught some of you). If/when they come to the next coach, I would hope they consider looking at the Big Five + 1 out of Northern New Jersey (Bergen Catholic, Don Bosco, DePaul, Paramus Catholic, St. Joes and St. Peters). It is one of the toughest HS conferences in the country; it is one of the bases for our student body; and it is a natural place from which to recruit. For example, Nunzio Campanile just took over as running back coach at Rutgers (1 year contract at 200K) after coaching BC to national ranking as head coach and acting as assistant under Greg Toal at Bosco. For that to happen, though, I think, Marist would have to go scholarship.

It's my opinion that Maker would still be coaching Marist MBB under the former administration. They would have never considered eating a multi-year contract. Is it more likely that the profile of Marist's intercollegiate athletics teams gets raised under Yellen, than under the former administration? Also, do you think Marist has an interest in offering Football Scholarship? Would such a move fit the athletic mission as it is generally understood by various campus constituencies? Do you think they could allocate funding for that purpose or even just up the Football Budget without adverse impact elsewhere? Marist has always struck me from afar as being very disciplined when it comes to resource allocation.

Oldfox, you are right that Marist has always been very methodical in its development and in its financial allocations. Five years ago I would have said that Marist would have made a greater financial commitment to football after the new science buildings, the Steel Plant and the new dorms were completed and the new core was put in place as part of getting to the next level. Even Maker's hire and his background seemed logical if we wanted Patriot League in the long run. The new Medical School (which is a 50 million outlay over something like the next 14 years) really changes things, I think. I have no idea, but my guess is that they will put football economically on the back burner until the first med class starts in 2022. In other words, they can leave it alone for awhile. This is simply a guess and I don't have a sense of President Yellin or his relationship with the Board under the new Chair, Ross Mauri.

Scholarship football would need to be in conjunction with a PL invite IMO.
Competing for PFL titles should be the immediate focus and it’s not happening with this staff.
I would like to think there would be competent replacements interested in the job?
