That would be one hell of a walk-on.. He's got a pretty nice skill set. Moves pretty well for a guy his size. Great shooting mechanics. Good handle. A local kid around here (Kevin Huerter) is getting offers from big-time offers and I don't see much of a difference between him and Funk and Daugherty. Plus, Funk and Daugherty aren't pencil thin... He played against weaker competition too. It's funny how that works. Doesn't hurt that he's the son of Siena's radio announcer and a former Siena player Tom Huerter. He doesn't look that much different to me than Funk and Daugherty. Good shooter..Good feel for the game.. But ND and Syracuse???

He's got the Marist logo on his twitter account. If he's a walk-on, go sign another big!!! lol. I like the looks of Daugherty. Love the fact that he was a 6'5/6'6 kid who played QB very well in HS. He's an athlete..

Any reason his signing hasn't been announced? One poster did say he was possibly a walk on. I would be surprised by that. Although his rankings in his state were quite low, he did have some other D1 interest. But, why hasn't he signed his LOI? The NLI is voluntary. It says if you sign one you lock in a year of aid from the school and stop the recruiting process. So I guess by not signing one can explain the walk on info, or the player has other options and is keeping them open. Not that I would bet much the later is the case. I am really looking forward to seeing this class in action. www.nationalletter.org/aboutTheNli/index.html

Also, Funk is actually much higher ranked than Daugherty in the New England area. I also like his video package, but every kids video package looks good. If he hasn't signed an LOI I would hope the staff is still looking to fill that scholarship at this point. We need guys to commit, not show some wavering. Now if that isn't the case and he did sign it, awesome.

I know.. But I know the level of comp isn't the greatest in the Capital District. He plays against small guards most of the time.. I think Huerter is pretty good but so are Daugherty and Funk. Huerter is basically a shooter just like those guys. He's not gonnna blow by anybody. He's not playing against top notch players. A few. St Thomas More plays much better competition. Parker certainly played against the best. Can't teach size though. Huerter's got that but he better put on 20 lbs.

This region always over hypes certain guys. Shen has 3000 students. They should be good every year.. lol The guys who get little publicity always turn out better. That goes for football and basketball. We never heard about Lewis from Academy. He turns out to be a star RB for Pitt and NFL player. Jimmer was the one exception. He had some bulk though. We'll see how it plays out. I think Daugherty might be a sleeper. He missed a lot of time his last year. Could that be why he wasn't ranked high?
Pre injury, I have no idea how Lamb didn't have better offers. I know GW was interested but it seemed like he should have had more suitors. It does seem like Maker is getting well rounded players. If only he could land a sleeper big..It does seem like he's getting players that will be fun to watch.

Marist needs basketball players. Marist does not need anymore big guys. That's next years recruit target. For this season, the Red Foxes have enough guys over 6'8". What we need are guys who can play basketball, shoot, pass, play defense & be teammates. BTW Marist has 4 top recruits coming in next year.We also have one open scholarship which may be used for the right guy. OR it may be held onto until next year to balance the recruiting year. Folks, try to remember the hole this basketball coaching staff has to recruit out of, to climb out of is very deep; eight to ten years deep. It will take more than one year to fill in a hole this deep. Please be PATIENT!!!!

It said BB on one post... Ken, I meant for the future. Their current guys are serviceable. Momah can rebound too.. He just needs to get acclimated to the speed of the game.. I agree Ken.. Good basketball players are the # 1 priority. I don't agree with an 8-10 yr period. That doesn't make sense in any program. If that includes 4 yrs of being a consistent top MAAC program, I'm agreeing. That probably is what he meant.
Yr 1 Glimmers of hope
Yr 2 Surprise some people and possible top 4
Yr 3 Top 4
Yr r Top 2 and possibly win
Yrs 5-8 Compete for title every year
I agree with this philosophy. It would take that long to "establish" how the program should be run and prove it with results... That's how it always should have been with their facilities, academics, and campus. They should have always been a top dog.

If he keeps recruiting guys like these four, we'll be in good shape. They all seem to have good all around games. They can all shoot!!! That's a heckuva start...

The hole the Red Foxes are digging out of is 8 - 10 years deep. Or it took that long for it to get that deep. I was not at all suggesting it would take 8 -10 years to get out of that hole. I'm hoping we turn the corner this coming year and the future will brighten in the following years, just like gggaff in previous post. Maybe even sooner!

What am i hoping for next year? Hart to be All-MAAC 1st team, and would like to see some of the freshman coming in get Rookie of the week awards and make MAAC rookie team - this will tell me we have a future.

lets be honest, great chance hart leaves next year if he graduates this year. He is one of those who qualifies for it. So I would actually hoped for a more balanced offense. I wouldnt be encouraged if hart needs to do what lewis had to this year.

Ken,
Do they still have one left. BP, KD, IL, and RF coming in..
Departing are CL, NC, MT, and TJC.. Did I leave someone out? That would be awesome if they do have one left...
I'm anxious to see these guys play. I like the fact that Maker expects Parker and Lamb(if healthy) to make immediate impacts. That means they'd be ready to roll sooner than later if he adds one immediate impact guy next year. I just like the looks of his recruits. Shooters who seem to be able to do more than just shoot. We certainly need scoring options. The offense produced quality shots. Just need to make them..
