Iona has done a great job with these types of kids. More power to them. However, I think it is b.s. that he is eligible immediately. The story says... He'll be eligible immediately because Toledo is banned from the NCAA Tournament for its poor academic standing.Too bad, you chose Toledo, sit out a year like kids who transfer from schools in good academic standing. The majority of kids who play college basketball never get to the NCAA tournament. Why should not having the chance to go be a reason to be immediately eligible. Just hard to figure out what makes kids in this category any different.

completely disagree - most likely the penalty is due to kids who played there before him why should he be punished if he is a good student? For most college kids this is as good as it gets (in a sport) and giving a kid a chance to do that is one of the few things the NCAA got right.
The kids who don't get to the tourney don't get there because they don't play well enough - the chance IS there for everyone prior to the first game of the season but not for Toledo and UConn (and the 8 others) and again the penalty is not because of something they did or had control of

Of course. Let them all transfer without penalty, or none transfer without penalty. Momo Jones grandma, Toledo's mismanagement, that's OK. But the sophomore who suffers from a coaching change is stuck. That sounds like something short of the best to me. There is no hardship in this case.
