Siena AD D'Argenio held a press conference today announcing that he and Gina Castelli had come to a "mutual agreement" that she would no longer lead Siena's Women's Basketball Program. If my language sounds a bit strange just wait until you hear him try to say she wasn't fired. The reporters kind of just play along. She leaves with a very good record at Siena. But never was able to overcome the loss of the recruiter who brought in the Latvian players in the late 90's early 00's. The recent futility aside I think what's really behind this are the recent successful coaching changes at FF and U Albany. U Albany is playing a home game vs UMBC this Saturday for the America East Crown and the NCAA automatic bid in the second year of her tenure. My cynical side can't help but think her salary after 22 years of service was a factor too. One of the reporters asks about resources for the program. www.sienasaints.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/030812aad.html
