That won't help with recruiting - our conference will look even less attractive. Not a lot of places to go - MAAC made mistake not getting to 12 last time around.... you basically have America East and Northeast or D2/3 to pull from. And don't think for one second that Siena and Iona will be looking to go somewhere as fast as they can (not saying anyone will take them but they will be looking)
The only silver lining with Fairfield going to the CAA it is one less college that the Patriot could look at.

I think QU is right there with them to try and leave if the Patriot would take them. Does their hockey team get them in?
Largest student population and endowment in the MAAC. Best facilities.
Could definitely see a future (5 years from now?) where the NEC and MAAC merge. Not sure how long SPC, Rider, and the Buffalo schools justify the D1 expenses. Same with the bottom schools of the NEC

Quinny does not have any aspirations for Patriot League it isn't the identity they want (it is what we want), they see themselves as A10, Big East, AAC or something more visible.

With AE losing Hartford - I would not be shocked if they don't at least try to steal from MAAC - would Quinny rather be in conference with UNH, Vermont, Albany, and Stony Brook? No more trips to Buffalo - could be more attractive one Fairfield and Monmouth leave.
Who are our best bests to bring to MAAC? Bryant, Wagner, Sacred Heart

Really doubt any of the NEC football schools leave. Wagner declined the MAAC in 2012-13 for precisely that reason.
Either the MAAC starts entertaining the idea of bringing in D2 schools like New Haven and Stonehill or they look for the non-football NEC members such as FDU, MSM, SFCBK.
I would start with Hartford and see if there's any interest there in staying D1 instead of going ahead with the D3 move.
People will bring up Hofstra, La Salle and Fordham and I tell you flat out there is zero interest from those schools or the MAAC.

The MAAC is for schools who want D1 on a D3 budget. We fit this mold perfectly. Hey MAAC cheap asses, you reap what you sow; Sinking to the very bottom of D1. NEC schools don’t even want to join this joke conference

Rothstein reported that the CAA is adding Hampton, with Stony Brook and Monmouth also under consideration.

the Patriot League is OK with one non-scholarship football program but you better be Georgetown academically and we sure as hell ain't Georgetown.
