That's division II, at least she won't have to seat a year. Good luck Payton!

This is what it was about for her - "Payton Birchmeier will continue her education and basketball career closer to home." and be near boyfriend

I'm sure we all wish her well...and thank her for her contributions to Marist. And she will (in my opinion) be a dominant player in DII.

In not sure why y'all are being so hard on Blais, who hasn't actually shared her reason for leaving, yet giving a pass to Birchmeier who is apparently leaving because she misses her boyfriend?
I wish them all well and am excited to see how the new and returning players do next season. I think Clement is ready to take her game to the next level.

One is a Freshman and one was going into a senior year... one missed home half way through the year which included her boyfriend.... the other didn't think they were going to win next year so she bailed on team mates and threw coaching staff under bus..

Becuase she was to be the leader of this team along with coffey. It's like the captain of a ship bailing out when he/she sees the storm ahead .Because after 3 years there shold be no suprises, after one or even two (less so), kids may realize the school is not the right fit, for any number of reasons, from personal (birchmier), or academic, or athletic

I haven't seen any sources that verify that to be Blais' reason but either way I don't see how she is bailing out throwing anyone under the bus any more than Birch or the others.

dont understand actionspoon, Birchmeir not equal to Blaisas far as role, status on team

The fact that you can't tell the difference from a Freshman who found out fairly quickly that Marist wasn't for her compared to a All-MAAC player who was supposed to be a leader of this team - scares me.

Everybody has a role. If a player who leaves is bailing then I don't see why another player leaving isn't also considered to be bailing.
I don't see how one player can bail more than another. I think everyone has the right to move on. On the bright side it's opened up some opportunities for players who do want to be at Marist.
