Should we be nervous going into next year?
We saw some serious holes this year that we have not seen in the past.
My biggest concerns:
Our rebounding and play in the paint - without Tori I do not see anyone else stepping up to help out in that area. I personally was expecting so much more out of Fogarty when she was recruited. Birchmeier was a freshman an could make a jump, same with Baab but I wouldn't count on these two becoming MAAC upper level "Bigs". It sure seems like the other MAAC schools are getting the better "bigs" as of late.
Our guard play is solid EXCEPT the 3 point shooting between Lai & Clement the 3 point % was nonexistent - i hope they learn to shoot the 3, because both have trouble when driving into the paint. Clement has a nice shoot around 12'.
Don't want to sound on Freshman to make a difference - although many MAAC freshman on other teams did make impact.
Starting 5 for next year if i was guessing today
PG - Lai SG - Clement SF - Blais F - Coffey C - Kat
Not an imposing lineup

Sit back and relax - do no let panic set in just yet.
Although i do agree - the 3 point shooting HAS to improve as does the ability to rebound

Playing with some numbers this morning. If Maddy duplicates her numbers from this season next year, she will be:
2nd all-time at Marist in points 1st in 3-pointers 1st in 3-point percent (in fact, 1st in MAAC all-time) 2nd in Free throw percent 5th in Free throws made 7th in FG % 7th in FG made 4th in blocked shots
And she scored 2 points per game her freshman year. Not saying that Payton or Kat (remember she had mono this year) or Kendall can improve that much, but what Marist big player has ever NOT improved drastically during their careers?
I'd be happy if Lai could improve her 2-point shooting, I love the rest of her game, and if Allie would take more 2-point shots and fewer threes.

You saw a possible issue with Maddy for next year last night - IF we don't find other scoring options - the defense will concentrate 100% on stopping her alone!!!!

I'm not trying to upset people as a 21-11 record is nothing to sneeze at - but I would like to hear people's opinion on next years line up. Who will make a monumental jump in production? Fogarty/Birchmeier are so slow and get beat too easy, no rebounding. Lia/Clement shot .212 from 3 point land - we CAN'T have 2 guards who can't shoot the three OR drive into the paint and score.

I agree with a lot of what you said fearthefox. If this Maura Fitzpatrick is everything they say she is, my lineup would have her working into the 2 guard position, moving Clement to the point, and having the big 3 do what they do. This is, of course assuming Tori returns. I said it before, I'm not sure you're gonna see a big jump from Fogarty. I hope I'm wrong but I doubt it. Lai is fearless which is great, but again, limited in terms of scoring ability. The bench needs to improve. Teams of the past were 8 deep at least. Birch will be a solid player. She's just young. We may all be pleasantly surprised by Rosales next year...we'll see. Tori is the key to bridge next year to the following...IMO

As of right now -
F - Coffey C - Baab/Bartner F - Fitzpatrick/Davidson SG - Clement/Rosales PG - Van Horn/Jossart
And you know we will have more - the Freshman are going to be thrown into fire fast it is going to take some strong character to see this rebuild through for one year.

Just checked a recruiting site about Baab. She was highly rated. I mentioned early in the year she seemed like she just needed experience. I see a big jump from her and Clement next year. Coach also seems high on Rosales. And maybe it is only me, but I love the way Van Horn plays, she just might need to be a tad more aggressively offensively.

Don't mess up the plan for '16 by bringing in any guards. Plenty of really good ones showing interest in Marist. Let those 4 listed above handle the 1-2 positions. The slots that came open that matter IMHO are the 3-4-5 and in particular the 4-5. I think they need to focus on those if they are going to use an other open scholly or two.
