MAAC Tournament PIG: 8-9.
I want to see a win badly here. Get to the next day, play a Fairfield team that will be under alot of pressure and can go into a shooting slump...never know what can happen.
Keys to beating NIA are:
1. Contest the three. They are a very poor three point shooting team...unless you leave them wide open which we did at their place. They shot 13-25 (52%) from three in that game. For the season they average 5.5-19.8 (28%) from three...that's awful.
2. Hit the glass. NIA is a terrible rebounding team. One of the worst in the country. They have been outrebounded in 25 of 31 games. When we beat them we owned the glass. The game we lost was one of the 6 times they outrebounded an opponent.
3. Keep likely ROY Jordan in check. Last time we played them Jordan had a career night setting highs in FG, 3 Pointers (7-10) and points with 27. He was ina great stretch averaging 19.6 ppg over 5 games including that one. He's cooled off since averaging 11.5 ppg over the last 6 games.
No word on Prescott yet.

Prescott in the game. Watson doing a nice job on the defensive boards.

Prescott just not ready to go. Marist playing decently. 29-26 Foxes at the half. Marist had many opportunities to push the lead to 10-12 but never could get it done. Price with 2 fouls left with 8:30 left, Prescott picked up 3 fouls in 1:30...Marist played the final 7:00 with Carter, Alexis, Bowie, Rusin and either Bauer or Watson.
Prinsloo came in with 1:30 left to save fouls on Bauer and Watson and committed a silly foul to give up 2 free points to NIA.

I didn't like that Price wasn't out there late in the half. Marist's fumbling the ball around late without a decent ball handler. Still seeing more motion than offense. Nelson's 35th point will probably be the difference.

Nice balanced attack. I thought they looked pretty good against Siena and they carried it over. Hopefully, they can get off to a good start tomorrow and not run out of gas. I don't think the future is bleak at all...

Go Foxes!!! 73-61 Foxes!
This was a real good effort. The BEST effort of the last two years. What I especially liked, when Niagara got hot mid second half and scored on about 5 straight possessions, Marist had an answer EVERY time.
The Price three to make it 43-32 was HUGE. Niagara never got it under three possessions after that.
Good games from Bowie and Watson as well as Carter. BIG game from Price. Played really well. Rusin hit some big shots. Prescott played a good second half on one ankle.
Only critique was the poor FT shooting...couldv'e won this by 18.
Go Marist!!! Play hard tomorrow against the #1!

I don't think the future is bleak at all... I wouldn't go that far, but I am looking forward to seeing what this core group can do with more depth at point guard (Morton, not Hall) and a healthy Kemp to go along with Watson. They are going to miss Bauer, even if Martin won't, because Prinsloo is a major project. The final scholarship is a huge one.

oldfox, Yes, Bauer will be missed. He is a selfless, team player. I saw him literally screen two defenders for Price to hit a 3 pointer. Rusin stepped up and Watson did a nice job under the boards. Bowie plays at 90 miles an hour intensity ala Jimi Hendrix. If these kids can get hot, anything can happen. Fairfield is fair game. Goooo Marist !

This game is for Ggaff the most. He is the most loyal positive Marist fan EVER. It is also for the pro Martin people such as Petagay and Dewd. GREAT game, offense flowed, Menelik Watson was a BEAST! I want to say one thing and I do mean it, just for tonight. Chuck Martin won this game for Marist. When Price got his third foul, most coaches would have taken him out. Marist has no point guard when he is out. Martin made the right call and kept him in at that moment and the lead was maintained. GREAT COACHING move. Lets take down Fairfield!!!!!!!!!!!
