I didn't get to really see him play, but he was the first player I remember seeing on TV, shooting free throws, Steve Eggink. Was he good enough to make a top 20 list? I also liked Reggie Gaut.

Drew Samuels and Ted Taylor belong in there somewhere. I would love to have seen either of these guys play for Martin.

Eggink was a good shooter. Ronnie McCants and Bruce Davis were pretty good too. They were there when I first got there.. I thought Kennedy was great.. His back hurt his career a bit. He was in the Cavs camp for a while. He had a better offensive game than Drafton. Basile was very good.. Drew Samuels was great. Tom Kenney ended up pretty good. How about the backcourt of Hatton and Larragan?? From one end to the other Hatton was second to none. I used to love watch him take the outlet. You knew it was ending in a layup. I think the new crew will be on this list someday..

For meanest of all-time I'd go with Ted Taylor. He always seem to have a scowl and I was at the game in which he punched the guy from the Yougoslavia National team, breaking the guy's nose. That said, the guy could rebound. I'd also put in a vote for Eggink on any all-time team, with an honorable mention to Mark Shamley. I thought he was solid off the bench and never got any props because he was overshadowed by Smits and Davis. I'll also throw out Peter Krasovik. I'm not sure I'd put him on the team, maybe honorable mention, but he was a great three-point shooter before it became fashionable.

I'd like to take it by position:
C Rik Smits hands down Alan Tomidy actually played center Miroslav Pecarski PF Ted Taylor Kareem Hill Fred Ingles SF & SG the way Marist played for much of the last 25 years these positions were interchangable Izett Buchanan Bobby Joe Hatton Steve Smith Danny Basile Wil Whittington Lack of D prevents him from being higher on the list. Andy Lake Steve Paterno Steve Eggink Nick Eppiheimer PG Jared Jordan hands down Sean Kennedy Drafton Davis (if not for Ric we would not even remember DD) Joey O'Connor
When are they going to retire Jared's number! The second best player to ever play at Marist!

How to get in touch with John Kijonek or Kijonek family from Hamilton, Ontario? I'm doing my best to contact them. Can anyone help me to find any contact point like for instance an e-mail address? Would highly appreciate a direct message.

I was watching the movie Coming to America w my kids and my heart dropped when I realized Rik Smits and Marist was playing at MSG. I've watched this movie a 100x as a kid and never realized. Wow! Awesome! Lol πππ youtu.be/dh2weY3zYN8

This is sad, but there is no love on this board for any player post-Jared Jordan, like Chavaughn Lewis or Khalid Hart, two of the all-time leading scorers for the school.

Well considering this thread is from 2009 - neither of those players had put on a Marist uniform yet

Awesome! Lol πππ youtu.be/dh2weY3zYN8I was somewhere in that student section. Going to games at MSG was a great bonus. Not sure how many times we played there - but remember the double header Kansas (Danny Manning) vs Memphis (when it was still a state) and Marist vs St. John's. Marist students traveled to the city in droves for those games - now we can't get kids to walk 1000 ft to go.

Well considering this thread is from 2009 - neither of those players had put on a Marist uniform yet That's funny! I thought you just started this thread since it was at the top of page 1. I wonder if they would have gotten any love if you did just start this thread. I can't lie, I was not that surprised that nobody mentioned them when I thought this was a new thread.

To be great you have to win. Every team will score no matter what. Scoring titles and averages donβt mean anything on teams that canβt break .500 at the very least. How can you consider them a great that the very reason why they scored so much is to the detriment to the team and lose?
