I noticed RJ was not at the game. I wonder if they made him do his homework.

Overall in regards to the game..I thought Marist played very hard as we are becoming accustomed to seeing them do at home. They just didn't play well. Missed alot of open shots. FT shooting obviously was atrocious and cost them the game in the end. Kemps hand injury KILLED them. He's been good for 6-8 good solid touches a game in the post recently but he just could not grip the ball.
I hate to do this as there has been some more positive feeling in this thread towards the coach...and I do think that they were prepared and had alot of energy today....but I think CM made a critical mistake going with Kemp down the stretch. We all know he's better than Watson, but Watson played decently today...Kemp showed numerous times he could not grip the ball...I would have played Watson down the stretch.

I'm sooooo sorry but...... we just played the 307 RPI team in the country and lost (even if we won by two I sure aint jumping up and down) This Manhattan team is not good, they are not being close to good - so yes when you play a team that is as bad as you are then.... you look like you are better prepared, playing harder, getting it together, but you are not..... just playing another team at your level.
Still missed FTs and some open shoots - Kemp is hurt and you could see it and that could have been the difference. Price looked good at times, so did Bowie - but the problem is while i see individuals show flashes as a team there is no flow. Maybe that is just a matter of time (but these guys play together everyday - thought there would be some consistency by now)
Am I negative - well YEAH we just lost to a horrible team PERIOD

My comment on being prepared was in the sense they were prepared to play a game...they played with good effort...I'm not commenting on whether they were prepared as far as game plan, etc...it's hard to tell as neither team executed really well.
Nomar's post pretty much hits the key points...FT's, Open J's and Kemp's injury...reasons why the half court shot were even possible.
Price was especially down after the game...just sitting alone on the court. I think that's good...want to see him turn that frustration and disappointment into hard work to get even better.

Price should pick himself up off the floor and immediately go to the free throw line and practice free throws until he makes 25 in a row. Then work on doing the same over and over again; every day until the season is over. I really like this kid and he took the loss hard but with good reason. He missed the front end of 1&1 twice in the last minute. Bottom line the point guard HAS to make those shots and he knows it.

Reminiscent of the Hall FT display at the end of the Siena loss in CM year 1. RJ was not the same after that. Let's hope Price responds differently. I expect and believe he will.

I checked the rankings of the teams before the game (there are 345 D-1 BB mens teams in the country):
Pomeroy: Marist 321 Manhattan 317 realtimerpi: Marist 299 Manhattan 307 rpiratings: Marist 291 Manhattan 306 Sagarin: Marist 315 Manhatten 316
Two bad teams. Marist (as home team) favored to win, especially after beating Manhattan at Draddy. Didn't happen.
The defense on the final play was terrible. The shooter received the in-bounds pass on the run towards his end of the court (which should not happen), had space to dribble after receiving the ball (should not happen), and got an open look (should not happen).
4-19 15-71

The similarity ends at the missed free throws. The games were very different. Siena was a top team that year. Manhattan stinks. Marist had a huge lead that night. Marist never had that kind of control today. Bad teams find ways to lose. Niagara just blew a 10 point second half lead to Siena at the TUC. Bad teams find ways to lose.

Totally agree...my comment was not referring to the game in general at all...just to the Price-Hall comparison and how they recovered/will recover respectively.

He has overcome some serious adversity to get this chance. He won't let this slow him down. As for where their collective heads are at, well, who knows.
