Yes, we have been spoiled by having the best damn womens coach in the history of college basketball. Yes, we have been spoiled by having a college president and a college AD who have given us presidents cup after presidents cup. BUT, now it is our time to start building the mens basketball team we DESERVE. Yes, DESERVE:). Many of us have been around rooting for them since the smits years. Some of you REALLY, REALLY old folks even rooted for them before him. Damn you are old, but that is not the point:). Why can't it be our time? WHY? Lucifer has been gone now for awhile and Martin now has his guys. ITS TIME TO BEGIN THE RENAISSANCE. Chuck Martin, WE LOVE the recruits you have gotten the last 2 years and we understand your predecessor was crap. Some might say an equal situation is you are President Obama who took over from President Bush. Takes a long time. But NOW is the time to see the results. We don't expect a great season, or even a 500 season. WE WILL BE THRILLED BY 7 MAAC wins. That is not asking too much. Get it done and you are on your way to having a bronze statue when you leave this fine college. You have proven you want to be here, said the right things, seem to be recruiting good players. 7 wins this year, then contention each year after. This is very possible. YOU FOUND A STAR in Morton. I think he is the guy who will be the difference maker. JUST GET US 7 MAAC wins this year
GAME ON, KICK SOME BUTT! HOO YAAAAAAAAAAAAA:).

I must credit Shooter as my inspiration as he had an awesome "speech" on the MAAC board as the season was getting under way.

Well done Yankee!!! I saw you sneak in that comment on the MAAC board with no response. What date was Shooter's "speech"?? I have to read that. I watched that Siena game. It's exactly what I expected. I'm telling you.. The talent at Marist is better than theirs right now. Don't be fooled by that little run at the end. And I agree with that one guy's comment. I've been saying all along that Rossiter would miss those guys. He got his points in semi-garbage time. Now all of a sudden Vermont's guys are stars??? I was impressed with Vermont but come on. They definitely lack athleticism . Much better shooters than Siena though. They're in love with Brookins but his percentage sucked too.
So you're right. Let's get this ship going!!!!!!!!! He's the guy and we've got the horses. Morton can shoot and is much quicker than Brookins. Let's start to rule!!!!!!!!!!!

Especially the observation regarding the circumstances on the floor when Rossiter "took over". We know Marist will play hard and I am not expecting as many wins as Yankee. But now they have a full complement of players, I do expect steady improvement throughout the season to the point where home court becomes an advantage once again. No matter how badly the MAAC looks coming off this weekend, it looks really bad, I don't think Marist is ready to win too many ganes on the road. Like Yankee is saying, we should be in for some fun this season.

Ggagg, shooter had a nice little inspirational speech for the entire MAAC going into the season. Worked well:).

Scott's speech at the end of "Patton"; or B) The older lady in deli scene from "When Harry Met Sally"; "...I'll have whatever she is having! ". Both are fun, but in very different ways. ;D Yea, it does finally seem that they have assembled a roster that has a big upside and based on this weekends results there may be more wins out there for the taking than previously thought. Time to make it happen.

And this little post of mine shows our expectations are not unreasonable. All I wanted was 7 MAAC wins and signs of hope.

I'm not sure if this reminds me more of A) George C. Scott's speech at the end of "Patton"; - good quote just wrong General - i think this is closer to General Custer's speech right before..... well we know how that turned out

FANTASYLAND - we dont get to 7 this year You know I posted this at the beginning of the year, and just refreshed it, right? Hell no they will be lucky to get one more MAAC win this year. Just reposted this to show the Martin supporters that expectations weren't crazy. 7 MAAC wins in your third year coaching should have been attainable.

I think 5 was realistic. They were picked 10th. If they finish 8th, it's hard to say they underachieved. One or two breaks and they'd have 5+ now. By the way, Siena had all they could handle with Manhattan at home last night. That loss was a miracle heave. One or two top players (seniors) makes or breaks you in this league. Marist has 0.

I'd like all of us to get in a room with CM. We'd see what posters have a set of balls. I bet we'd see a lot more politeness... The supporters would question things as fans should.
