I thought it was a real good job. Though, I've never really seen any reason to consider Alexis a "heralded" recruit or see Goodwin as a starter next year, especially by the time CD is eligible. I'm hoping all these guards can be rotated through at least early in the season. Just a ton of new and exciting faces on this team. So many, you tend to forget that Parris has another year to go and can fill in at either the two or three.

Yeah I agree that this is a very well-written and covered blog, however I don't agree with oldfox about Javon Parris because I think he just performed so poorly this past season that he isn't going to see that many minutes this season; also I can't see Dejuan Goodwin seeing that many minutes either. I think that the starting lineup will be something like (this is very rough and dependent on Robby Johnson and Devin Price's skills)... PG- RJ Hall SG- Daye Kaba SF- Dorvell Carter PF Any combo of Robby Johnson, Korey Bauer, Alex Vouyoukas C-Casiem Drummond
I kind of hope that Devin Price is a real steal and can step in and start at PG; he would give us a good size at the point guard position plus I really like RJ Hall as the sparkplug off the bench rather than a starter. I also feel that unless Bauer learns to play downlow or Alex hits the weight room big time, then Robby Johnson will start at PF and be a good threat both downlow and stretch the defense outside. Johnson is listed as 6-8 215lbs and from I read is very athletic so if he can clean some glass I would love him at the 4 (very similar body to Spongy but with a lot better jumpshot). What are the rest of your guys thoughts on the starting lineup and whatnot?

I agree with most of the author's points. He is spot on by recognizing Chuck's style in a player. Coach wants great athletes. Guys that can get up and down the floor. Four guards on the floor at once...no problem. He also recognized that this is Chucks first true recruit class. He had slim pickings last year. Amazing he did so well.

I read an article which referred to Johnson as an east-coast sleeper. It said that the reason he was available was that nobody knew he was eligible. About Goodwin, it's amazing how good he looked in the Siena game in Albany. He had quickness and his shot was on. It's almost like his body gave out. Here's what I'm hoping..
C Drummond PF Johnson SG Kaba SF Carter PG Price
I like RJ off the bench. I love the thought of Prescott, Rusin, and Alexis coming off of the bench. No more dead wood. If Bauer and Alex can be average, this team will be very good. Somebody (Yankee?) should let Siena fans know who had the best recruiting class. That's not even counting Johnson and Price. Add Studs in Kaba and Drummond and it's clear to me who the beast of the MAAC is going to be in coming years. All indications are that Johnson can really stroke it from deep. That's a nice plus.

I completely agree ggaff, that would be my ideal starting lineup for us this season...and also forgot to talk about that line in the blog saying ESPN ranked us as having the best recruiting class, I love it; the future is here and it is very bright boys.

Makes sense based on his past at Memphis

How's this boys??? The dude can recruit..
Spoke w/ east coast sleeper Robbie Johnson tonight. He has been at Edison Prep in New Jersey w/ Kevin Strong for a healthy portion of this school year. Originally committed to Air Force, Robbie went out there for a little bit, realized Air Force was not the place for him, and subsequently made the decision to come home. A level headed kid, Robbie still has 4 years left, and is fully qualified. At 6?8 he plays the three, and is consistently knocking down his 3 point shot this year. Alabama A&M is his only offer right now, but Stonybrook is doing the best job of recruiting him. The reason his recruitment is so low is bc NOBODY knows the kids is available!!! Think a bigger more athletic Steve Spinella here coaches. Get on the boy before a high major comes in for the kill. 678 314

CT,
I found it on recruitingrumors.com. It sounds like this kid is going to be a nice player. Now I wish they'd officially announce him and Price. The rest of the league is going to be in shock when they see the "new" Marist!!! It's only going to get better!!

Another thing that is nice. Drummond's got a nice mid-range jumper. I just want Bauer to bang and develop a little jump hook. Alex just needs to get tougher. He's got skills. He just played like it was touch football instead of tackle. He might really improve and get stronger. Honestly, this could turn out to be the most talented Marist roster ever. I know we haven't seen them, but I just know that the 10th player on the chart has talent. Even in the Jordan and Kennedy years, they had marginal players after the first 7.
