I don't get this one. Not exactly a stirring prospectus by ESPN. Can't find much of anything on Devin. Does the prospect of this make anyone else think the staff is seriously worried about play at the point?
Couldn't have won over a more accomplished kid next fall?

I get the feeling this kid may have an upside. He had some big games in California. How come these things take so long to get announced. I'm assuming it's true because it's the Edison website. This kis had multiple 20 pt games in Cal. He must be good. They don't get a lot of these things right. One of the services had Gavin in the 500's....He was better than that...

No problem with your point on the rating services. They can't possibly have evaluated all these kids anyway. The staff is doing a great job climbing out from the abyss Brady left the program in, and I'm sure they believe the player will fit the system.
But notwithstanding the rare year when there really is parity, you need stars PLUS depth to win the MAAC tournament. Frankly until a Marist Staff can go 8 deep with exceptional MAAC level talent, problems getting out of the MAAC semis will persist. Even Marist's best teams were so dependent upon 1 or 2 players and as a result quite one-dimensional, they were upset handily. Marist couldn't even get the ball up the court JJ's final year if he wasn't in the game. Looking back, no way that team was going to win 3 games in as many days.
Hopefully Price is even a bigger sleeper than Prescott, but if we expect them to get better fast, don't you think they need guys who are a little more of a finished product?

He may be pretty good. Played at a pretty good level of H.S. ball. Kaba and Drummond are as good as any other team's top 2 guys. If Prescott and Dorvell can step right in, they'll be top 4.

Oldfox, I think he probably figured they needed 2 PG's and this guy might have been too good to pass up. Now him and RJ can handle the point. They are loaded at the 2/3. You've got Kaba, Prescott, Carter, Rusin, and Alexis. Carter can also be used at the 4 if they go athletic. The kid is tough. He played tough against Samardo Samuels in high school. I really love the looks of this team. Johnson can play the 3 or 4 and shoot. The signing of Price(if confirmed) leaves Kaba at the two. He'll be a machine at the 2. Keep in mind. One game in high school he scored 37 and was the best player on the floor. Tyreke Evans was on the same floor. I've got news for Loudonville. This team isn't taking a back seat to anybody in talent. The size, athleticism and scoring options have been significantly upgrade. Not to mention defense and rebounding. Drummond is going to dominate. Rusin can flat out shoot. If Bauer and Vouyoukas can just get their 4-6 pts a game and rebound, look out. If they get Alex on the weights, you might see a real development. After all, he was pretty highly regarded coming out. I can't wait... The one thing I really like is that I have a feeling none of the rookies are afraid to get right in there and contribute. If RJ can be as good as we think he can, this team can win next year. Think about it. They spent half of the shot clock dribbling around the perimeter. With Drummond and Kaba, you have two major scoring options. The shooters are going to get tons of open looks.

A quick check of the roster shows only one scholly, Javon, to fill next year. That probably means either a shooting guard, or maybe a center to replace Drummond the following year. If Price is coming then you're correct the 1 slot is filled and backed up.
Alex and Korey will either make or break the backcourt over the next two years. Right now Marist figures to have 1 pretty sure thing in Drummond, one rookie (so who knows) 4/3 guy in Robinson, and blues brothers - named as such because as much as we loved them, they gave us the blues with their play for the most part last year. :-) Marist need at least one of them (Alex preferably since he's more of a center) to become competent enough to spell CD effectively for decent stretches of time. If not, Marist will get small in the front court again by using guards at the 3. I worry about CD having to play crazy minutes and breaking down.
Alex should have a cot in the weight room with his name on it. Much like they did with Stilphen, who put on 20 lbs as a red shirt freshman. Aside from a lack of strength, I thought his biggest problem was lack of confidence. Some bulk combined with a year of experience could go a long way in helping him fulfill his promise. Remember, his brother Ian averaged 12/7 as a 6'10", 270 lbs Center for St. Louis of the A10 his senior year.
Upside all over the place with a little luck, and Marist MBB is due for some soon.

If the Blues Bros could become the Bruise Bros, this team could win it all this year. Vouyoukas better have added 10-15 pounds of muscle and gained confidence. I know Martin liked him so maybe the 2nd yr he comes around. I have no problem with Bauer's aggressiveness. He sort of plays nasty at times. If he could develop a little jump hook. I sat behind the bench for the tourney. I love the coaching staff. Paul Lee is great. Their staff might turn out to be the best top to bottom. Who's kidding who?? The talent level sucked last year. This team is light yr's better. I agree with the assessment about RYAn S. He played his butt off but he still didn't really shoot the ball that well or hit the shot when they really needed it. He got worn out. Asked to do way too much. Kaba is a stud. Book it. 2nd team MAAC at the least.

The back injury held Ryan back the second half of his career. It seemed to me that his mobility suffered as a result.
No doubt both talent level and depth are improved. I figure they will be unanimously picked for 10th and will probably have the opportunity to fight their way out of the PIG by coming together down the stretch. Lots of experienced teams in the MAAC this year to overcome.
Signs of growth and progress. Added diversity to the DDO. Cut down on the turnovers and improve the TO/Assist ratio, REBOUND. The defense probably improves simply because of the added athleticism.
Do we see any difference in how the staff game plans and the effectiveness of in-game adjustments. Have the returnees improved during the off season. All big question, but if last year is any indication, they will play hard.
Results, bring the home court advantage back to the McCann Center, 7-8 wins in the MAAC , avoid the PIG and win a tournament game would be very nice prelude to a rocking '10 - '11 campaign.

I was referring to Schneider... :-)
Oldfox, my glass is more than half full for 09-10. If they get picked for 10th, my money is down. Drummond and Kaba put them in the top 6 alone.. I think Prescott, Carter, and the kids can all play now. I think he's got a special group coming in.. Johnson adds a nice dimension.

Marist should be greatly improved. Problem is most of the rest of the league should be too. The only team I could see taking a big step back would be Fairfield. But Cooley is a good coach who will keep that team together. Gonna be three teams at the top and Marist will be in that free for all for 4th place. I think they finish about 5th or 6th but with a legitimate shot in the MAAC tourney if Kaba turns out as good as advertised.

Improvement might not show in the results the way we would like. Siena wet dream, league keeps getting better and they get to play the tournament at home again.
