Manhattan is trying to blow this but somehow I doubt Marist will accept their generosity.

Dang, they really could have beaten the 2nd place MAAC team on the road, but you can't go 0 for a billion through 3 quarters and expect things to end well.

Marist has been competitive in every game after the really rough start. Got to find a way to improve the offense, even just a bit to make some noise later in season.

Smrdy - I always say I want to watch the DePaul game but I can't find it anywhere. Have any idea? No, unfortunately I had DVRed the game at home, so I didn't buy the video from the NCAA. Little did I know that when I moved from Ohio to South Carolina, I would not be able to copy the game to a VCR tape. By that time, the game was no longer available from the NCAA site. So, I don't have either the DePaul or LSU games. Not sure I know how to do this, but I believe I have them all (or at least most parts of them MAAC Tournaments and NCAA Marist) including the NCAA Ohio State game. I was at most of the MAAC Championship games and tried to record them remotely. If the games didn't start on time or ran late of course that caused problems. I believe I have most all of the DePaul game too.
If I was home watching I would try to edit around commercials etc. For the most part they are in tact.

it just seems like they run at 75% speed when they are doing cuts and running the offense. they miss the cut to the hoop and just swing it everytime.

I usually play the role of the poster with the positivity bias but I’m not feeling it. IMO 90% of the improvement has come from Fisher rounding into shape after multiple injuries. This should have been a win. Manhattan’s best player Juric with her 10 points and 8 rebounds was out. Marist constantly blew coverage at the 3 point line and let a team that barely shoots 30% from 3 almost double that percentage at times during the game. I just don’t see the talent or depth of basketball IQ on this roster necessary to win on a consistent basis. If the two seniors don’t use their COVID year at Marist it probably takes a step back.

I think the step back might be necessary to take 2 steps forward.
Would next year be even more of a disaster without Fisher and Zaria? Yeah probably. But at some point you need to start re-building from basically scratch, and you need scholarships to do that.
Who on this team do you feel we can build a Championship team around? Who is consistent? Who has even shown signs that there is greatness there?
We do not have a lock down defender, as a team we are sooooooo slow we can not execute a scout - we can't get out on shooters fast enough, we can't get through a screen fast enough, and players can just drive by our defenders.
No one can shoot the three with any consistency. Tarul has got he % up to .347 - but that is countered on defense, Piddock is constant but same can be said on defense, she can't step in front of a quick player.
Our 6'5" BE transfer is only good for 2.8 rebounds a game
Corsentino is still adjusting the college 3 point line.
Only way to fix this is bringing in people who can make a difference right away. So do you bring in a transfer with 2-3 years left vs keeping Fisher for 1 more year (never really knowing how healthy she will be?)
We need quickness, not just on perimeter.
I don't know answer but what I do know is running the same group out there next year doesn't make sense

I have heard that players and parents have come on this board in the past - they shouldn't ....we give opinions and armchair observations (that isn't saying that we don't say some intelligent stuff), but there are times we talk about things like this is a fantasy league. We say "we need a 5'9" fast point guard who can hit the 3 @ a .450% rate and guard the openents top player holding them to single digits" - guess what EVERYONE needs that.
The staff knows what the short comings are and I am sure they are out there trying to fill those needs - I have tracked our offers for years and when we typically lose someone it is to a bigger league/program - so some kids are not our first choice. With the NIL it adds an entire other layer that this staff needs to cope with.
The staff went and got a 6'5" center from Georgetown who had offers from Fordham, West Virginia, Ole Miss, Wisconsin, Iowa St, and Seton Hall - how could the staff not think this was a home run? Because she didn't play a lot as a Freshman? No - this is wha they should be looking for - she has two more years - hopefully she is open to putting in the work it will take to get better.
We need to continue to go after transfers - hopefully they can make a more immediate impact, in future.

I really regret not buying the games in Baton Rouge when I had the chance, but as I said, I had them on DVR before we moved to Myrtle Beach. I especially regret not having the DePaul game because that's when we were interviewed by Alan Hopkins from ESPN before the game, and they showed my wife on the broadcast when Alan talked about Sarah being named MVP of the MAAC tournament and mentioning Ann's disease. Luckily for the viewing audience, I remember I was only visible from the neck down sitting next to Ann when they put her on the screen. LOL

Yes, I do have the DePaul game but only what was broadcast (the Julianne Viani show). Because i had so many MAAC Tourny 1/ NCAA vids, I only kept the “Winners”, hence no LSU game.
