I’m picking up my son at Richmond this weekend for spring break. Attending my first Spiders game Sat. vs. George Mason. Game is a sellout. My son just turned 21…our $12 tickets come with 2 free beers each - the three-point special…now that’s a ticket promotion.

There is just no point in watching mid-major mens anymore. Marist will never be competitive again. You can not ever recruit the MAAC ROY because they will leave immediately after accepting award, can't build a program. We are going to lose 2-3 top players from this team and this team isn't that good.

we haven’t been competitive for nearly two decades, so no measurable impact to us.
Keep on sucking TM and Dung and whoever you hire next.

That is my point for - get rid of TM get rid of Dunne and then what - do you really believe there is a coach out there who can come to Marist, recruit the ROY and keep them? How? If a BCS team comes calling they will leave. Between the free transfer and the sheer # of AAU coaches telling them to go to bigger pastures, and NILs we can't compete.
Track this year how many ROYs transfer

Agree that it's disheartening, but somebody's got to win the league. Marist can also benefit from the portal, getting guys who can't hack it at the p6 level and want to drop down to play. Or d2 guys like Gardner. Starts with coaching.

Literally not one player has done enough to warrant upward movent. A Player like Brickner is closest, but he would do himself a disservice transferring "up". At some point, these kids will realize the college and building relationships count. I think we keep all the players we would want too.

Yankee - for rest of my life anytime we have a really good player I'm going be thinking they are going to leave
The other problem is all the voices in their ears - too many are saying you need to move on and not enough saying you are in good spot. AAU coaches what their kids at highest level so they can claim it on their websites, I in some cases I got no doubt that they are getting paid under table - this rule has made NCAA so incredibly corrupt. But nothing will be done because the big boys love it

Good mid major coaches can keep players long enough to have an impact. Bad mid major coaches, who get lucky with a prospect (Dunne/Ituka) probably can't anymore. Also doesn't seem like Jao had a great time at Marist off the court.

If its a good solid program ,many kids want to stay and enjoy the ride .

Pitino is an aberration and everyone transferred after last year fro St. Peters but they would have stayed if Holloway stayed ..So at the same time as criticizing players u have to criticize coaches that will leave on a moments notice if they find a better gig ..Its just the way things are now .so i can't blame players or coaches that try to better themselves...i just think things weren't as bad last year as the players made them out to be ..It wasn't a bad team ..we just needed some pieces ....Would have been nice to see Jao with Gardner ..

Like I said - NCAA basketball is terrible - yeah it is all business now, there is no more team it is ALL about I got to do what is best for me. This generation is the ME generation. I don't get my way - I just leave. I want my playing time, I want my points, I want my NIL money....... free college is no longer enough. They are all about name on back of jerseys not name on front.
Yeah coaches can leave and if they want to put rule in that says if coach leaves so can players so be it.
My parents would have kicked my ass if i wanted to leave because I wasn't getting enough PT or the team wasn't winning - they would have told me to work harder.
