Again Marist has football for one reason and one reason only - and it has NOTHING to do about winning - this is all about attracting diversity to the college

Get a bunch of kids in the door that otherwise probably wouldn't be coming, get them through the 4-5 years while paying tuition, and then maybe they donate to the school as alumni while the school uses FB as a marketing tool. People here can complain about Parady, but he does the job he's asked to do and he runs a clean program. It is what it is. With Monmouth out, they're the only school in the conference with a football team.

Another reason is that having football is something that prospective students desire. Clearly the focus group was not asked if winning football was part of their "college experience" vision. This is all business model bs. Parady doesnt have much to work with. The kids the staff target get scooped up by better programs. Its basically a wait and see whats left and then compete for the players with the DIII schools. It was mentioned that he does run a clean program and that is true. Its a lot of money for a foregone conclusion. The school boasted that 25% of this class identified as students of color. This cant be good for football. Admin is getting it done without the sports.

We must be the only school implementing this idiot strategy to their football program. The results are Embarrassing Most schools that want balanced diversity recognize sports as a way to accomplish this need. Unlike most schools, Marist has no regard for putting a winning team on the field. Its all about return on investment. I know it sounds crazy, but the current administration believes that just having teams that exist is better than having teams that win. Admissions is up and thats is all the school cares about. Alumni funding doesn't have enough weight to influence the direction of sports. Until it does this is going to be the status quo at Marist. How did Iona get Pitino? How did Fairfield build the arena we want?...they have involved, significant donors that influence the direction of their programs and admins that recognize the value of competitive sports. Marist clearly does not. As fans/alum that care, it sucks.

Was anyone surprised by the results. A better coached team beat a poorly coached team. All the normal things that happen at Marist FB game, occurred. Great crowd, no control of either offensive or defensive lines; plenty of turnovers; missed tackles; blocked punts; and the usual penalties. Look for a slightly below .500 season.
As to the program's existence, much of what has been said is true. In Marist speak, a quality FB program doesn't mean winning, just existing. And that sucks.

Sidearm websites such as GoRedFoxes have a cool feature on the schedule page. Click on any game and then click History to see the series history. Georgetown and Bucknell are pretty rough.
There's just nobody we can play in this area in FCS against whom we would not be at a massive disadvantage.
