Looks like a really good pickup. I like that it shows him making some nice plays against what looks like some good athletic teams.

Football Scholarship transfer from Tulane. Freak athlete. Sign. Me. Up. Can he play 4 years of basketball or only 4 minus the years he played football? Unfortunately, I think the latter.

some names from Twitter that the staff has evidently reached out to (from transfer portal)
John Korte - Wheeling (D2) - 6'6 forward averaged 20 and 8, 1 year remaining
Messiah Jones - Wofford - 10 ppg, 5 rpg
Jayden Turner - Queens NC - 8.4 ppg, 7.5 rpg (Niagara and Rider among other suitors)
Chris Ledlum - Harvard - 18.8 ppg, 8.5 rpg (tons of P5 and Big East interest, we have no chance, but shoot your shot right?)
Xander Rice - Bucknell - 14.1 ppg, made 69 threes (also major conference interest)
Tyler Houser - VMI - 10 ppg as a freshman

Houser would be a nice get. 6-9, 235. 36% from 3. Only 14 blocks, but hopefully could improve there.

A site called The Portal Report lists 20+ schools who have reached out to Houser. Mostly mid-majors except for Rhode Island. A possible bonus from signing Tyler is his younger brother Justin who plays prep school ball in PA. Justin is 6’11. I would rather bring in a young guy like this to fit in with the last two recruiting classes rather than a one and done guy. Adding Houser to the front court changes the calculus for next year.

Our core contributors coming back are all like 6’5” and smaller. And our three recruits coming in are Collins 6’0”, Pascarelli 6’2”, and Nwankwo 6’6”. I have no faith in Belton making a big jump this year and turning into a capable starting big man. Need these last two scholarships to be prioritized for potential impact bigs.

Problem is like 320 other D1 teams are looking for good big men. I would love another good big man signing, but I would rather a more talented 6'5 guy than just taking an unathletic oafy big.

Messiah Jones- 6’6” 220lbs Wofford. Averaged 10ppg, 5rpg, 57% FG, 71% FT

There are 2 transfers from Army who might want to stay in the area, who averaged about 12 points apiece and shot about 40% from 3 and over 80% FTs. They are Coleton Benson and Ethan Roberts and both were freshmen this year I believe. Benson is listed as a 6'1" guard and Roberts is listed as a 6'5" forward.
Also, a local kid from Newburgh is transferring out of Wofford, Amarri Tice, who we offered a couple of years ago.

Amarri would be exactly what we need IMO

Did we ever figure out what happened with Jahlikai King and why he didn't end up at Marist?
