I think this is a great get for us. A late bloomer who played great in a great league. Happy with this
By my count, the below is our roster as of today. Still 5 open scholarships left to fill. In all honesty, Belton, Saint Furcy and Cooley all have no business starting or getting meaningful minutes on a competing team. I like the 4 recruits coming in plus Harris. In my opinion with these last 5 roster spots we need to add two big men, a true dead eye shooter, an experienced stretch 4 and then a combo guard who is capable of being our back up point guard to spell Harris but also a scorer (ala Devin Price type guard). I know that sounds like a lot to ask for but all these types of players are out there and available so I have to put my faith in the staff because while I like the 4 recruits currently coming in, we can’t rely on 4 freshman to all be impact players right away.
PG- Noah Harris 6’1”, Isaiah Brickner 6’4” SG- Tyler Saint Furcy 6’4”, Trace Salton 6’6” SF- Javon Cooley 6’5”, Jaden Daughtry 6’6” PF- Matt McCool 6’7” C- Rollin Belton 6’8”

Adam Finkelstein @adamfinkelstein · 3h Marist just landed a commitment from @menssfp & @nyjayhawks forward Jaden Daughtry and I think it is a significant one. There wasn't a player in the NYC area who helped themselves more this season than @daughtry_jaden . Well that's certainly a good thing to hear!

Constant guys in and out, like it has been, doesn’t serve anyone well. Maybe Harris is the guy who stays because he will get the ball and play as a real PG.

Iona just landed 7' 290lbs freshman Silas Sunday. That's a big dang human being for a kid that young.

Sounds like a very intelligent and motivated young man. I'm glad he chose Marist. I'm not interested in rebuilding, let's battle and win some damn games! 💯

QU is looking good. Nweke replacing Marfo and then Otieno and Riggins as the backups.

I liked Otieno a little more after we got Ingo but I'm not really upset about not getting his commitment minus that we have to see him at QU now.

Rhyjon Blackwell committed to McNeese St. They were the only other school to offer him recently so I guess our offer was too late unfortunately.

Markus Harding to Central Michigan. Tobe Awaka was recently offered by Pitt and Maryland so if the staff is looking for a big hopefully they're focused on the portal

Fairfield lands a major recruit with P5 offers who decided to reclass. I get he's the son of a coach, and maybe he sticks around, but feels like this is a case of "use Fairfield to get used to the college game and transfer out after a year"

If his plan is to stick around for a year or two and they know, then that'd be a pretty good deal for them imo. Lets them plan ahead for when he does leave while getting to have a good player while showing off their development abilities once he leaves for a P6 school. Honestly, this may be the only way for Marist to rise to the top of the MAAC consistently in the portal and NIL era, though I suspect most here would hate every minute.

Waiting patiently for the Jao '22 edition to come out. Preferably in the front court model.
