Canisius has done a second round of 9 layoffs according to the Buffalo News. This round focused on Athletics and included one assistant coach each from the men's and women's basketball programs. Sounded like the other 7 were administrative type positions. No sports eliminated. Evidently they studied that option and concluded wiping out a program would be a net expense due to the potential loss of students athletes who pay their own way to play.

Mount Saint Mary is out, so Marist, Siena and Army are the last schools on the Hudson River above NYC that haven't all the way pulled out yet.

goredfoxes.com/news/2020/7/27/general-statement-on-fall-sports-competition.aspx"PFL presidents and athletic directors are holding regular meetings to determine the viability of the 2020 season. Consistent with Marist's fall sports, it is presumed that the Red Foxes' football season may be postponed barring significant improvements related to the COVID-19 pandemic. A decision regarding Marist's football season is expected within the next few weeks." Monmouth has already pulled the plug on football, even though the Big South is still nominally in the game. It's ridiculous that Marist is still hemming and hawing about putting the players on flights to hot spots like Florida, or anywhere really. It's the PFL. Nobody cares enough to make this remotely worth it. Stop being stupid already.

That's basically code for "it won't be played in the fall, check back in a few weeks to see if we can come up with a spring schedule."

Excerpt from today's email from Dennis Murray's email to alumni.
"....As part of the (reopening) plan, we are moving to a "closed campus" model. This approach prohibits visitors from coming to campus and limits our students' ability to travel outside of campus." "....Unfortunately, the significant restriction we're putting in place have necessitated the cancellation of all fall campus events including time-honored annual traditions such as Homecoming and Reunion Weekend and the President's Community Breakfast, among others."

All fall sport championships are cancelled in Division III. The last school to be successfully crowned NCAA D3 national champion in any sport was North Central (Ill.) football, in December 2019 - they will remain the last until at least March 2021 and quite possibly beyond that. Sheesh.
EDIT: Ditto for Division II. They had mentioned potentially playing those tournaments in the spring, per their championships committee, but the D2 Presidents Council opted for the killswitch instead.

the MAC won't play football in the fall, or anything else. First FBS conference to walk away - without the P5 $$ games they couldn't continue.
Let's see if the other G5 leagues, or the Power Five even, start to throw in the towel now.
