As he said he doesn't follow Marist basketball, he is reporting for his job so I don't think he knows any of the history of Dunne. He doesn't mention St. Peter's at all in the article. For me, its interesting to see an outside perspective on this rather than all of us who follow this team and league very closely

Pure weirdness.

This hack is clueless, his own words, "I wouldn't call myself a fan of Marist basketball", I'm no expert on Marist hoops", "I don't know what goes on behind closed doors", and then says he's seen no "effort" from Dunne's team. Only a hater of the Men's Program would give this hack job an ounce of credibility.

Point out all the parts of his story that were inaccurate? Kudos for publishing it - no worry about being politically correct or hurting peoples feelings just telling it how it REALLY is (right now anyway - can change, hope it changes) Are you kidding me? He basically said he watched Dunne during game instead of game. That came across as fatal attraction. Dunne needs to file order of protection. You've been watching too much " Dateline NBC"

Foxfanatic hit it right on the head. He gets frustrated. I sat behind the bench last year for three road games. He's tough on guys when they don't execute. Usually he talks out loud to an assistant. He then talks to the guy after he yanks them. I think he told us in the one night that he's really tough on David Knudsen. He basically said "David understands I'm just making points to improve the team.". He knew David could take it. Off the court, a pussycat.
The guy is a perfectionist. Heck, we recruit smart students only right? He expects the game plan to be executed.
I have to read the article now. I think Dunne is a great coach. If he gets the players, he'll win.

I think Cubbage had the ball at the end of games because he was the only guy that could create. Next year that will be Byrd. Cubbage had a 5 or 6 game streak in the middle of the year that he was very good. It look like he was tired after that. Remember Parker? Similar. You're asking a two guard to be a point, play d, and rebound. They need to compliment guys like Cubbage and Parker. He did with Byrd. This kid can play. He needs one more playmaker and another rim protector down low. Bell will thrive with a good PG. He will be open a lot. Byrd beats the first guy 9 out of 10 guys. What will make him great, is he has a great mid range game and great ability to find shooters (Bell and Herasme). That being said, those guys need to deliver more consistently. I'd rather have 2/3-5 every night from three rather than than 0-6 followed by 5-5. The 5-5 doesn't guarantee a win, but the 0-6 probably guarantees a loss. 2/3 for 5 gets you a lot of wins.
Bell needs to get more layups too. He's got the whole package. Summer work will make him a star and get St Furcy to a higher level. Needs to improve the mid-range and handle. He hit a nice pull up in one of the last games. I think Matt will be who he is. That isn't a bad thing. Get 8 a night, rebound and play d..

This "kid" writer, who declares not to follow the MAAC or Marist basketball and is not a player or a coach, is able to write an article like this on anyone, shows the level of incompetence and decision making of "Center Field" as being far greater than the Marist basketball program or Marist Athletics in general. The main problem here is that young "journalists" learn early on that negativity and hatchet jobs seem to get attention and help you get promoted. Of course I am not saying that the Men's Basketball program and Marist Athletic Department does not deserve its fair share of criticism, but certainly not from this self proclaimed ignoramus. If a journalist is to be taken seriously, they ought to at least put the proper amount of research and investigation into the subject in order to possibly enlighten the readers with some factual information or truth.

I second foxtrot’s post. May I suggest to the kid writer that he take a look back at how low the men’s basketball program has fallen. It started when kid writer was still in grammar school. Kid writer wrote about his observations during a game. But he does not have any observations from practice nor from the locker room. Lastly, the kid writer is the editor in chief, so who is above him to approve or disapprove his article.

I grew up reading a lot of sports pages and I found this guy's writing style to be disjointed and not clear in several spots. I also strongly disagree when he says that Coach Dunne does not talk to players during the game. I'll give him that Coach Dunne talks more to the players who are playing on the floor while the game is going on, but the head coach should be more focused on the action currently going on the floor instead of losing focus to chew out or teach a player coming off the floor. I'm sure there is plenty of time for teaching moments and chewing players out the next day during film sessions. Coach Dunne does have many exchanges with players coming off the floor, but if there is a longer discussion needed, he usually leaves that to the assistant coaches while the game is going on, which is how I think it should be done.

The "Journalist" is learning his profession and will fit in nicely with today's news reporters. I am sure that the best learning happens when the games films are shown and reviewed. I know Coach Dunne does this as do most coaches. Let the reporter rest as he is safe in his world in his own mind. Do not let this shake our confidence in Coach Dunne. He has lost games this year for sure. I haven't researched the scores, however, I think the total of points we lost by are less than points lost by in one game with previously HC's.

This kid is no Tony Kornheiser who was the sports editor of my college paper, there'll be no job offer at the Washington Post for him.

If he gets the players, he'll win. Thats all you need to read. Its all about the bodies. Team needs to be more athletic and you go nowhere without a PG in the MAAC. The only posts i care about are recruiting updates and signings. That and a better facility to play in. Quinnipiac's facility is unreal. Did Madoff get all our money? What am I missing here?

I see 3 players transferring from the utopia that is supposed to be Quinnipiac, including Richie Kelly....
