I have been impressed by the demeanor of a few of the coaches in the MAAC - Tim Cluess was one of them, John Dunne while at SP, Dave Magarity. My wife and I wish good health and hope that Tim will continue in BB when he is ready. Thanx Tim

Great maac coach. Best wishes for bettr health going forward Ditto this.... Also, he should be given kudos along with their AD for jumping on the transfer trend in CBB in a big way. While it might not work institutionally for other MAAC schools, it was totally compatible with Iona's strategy of marketing itself as a destination for transfers of all types, not just athletes. It would be great if the Rick Pitino rumor is true. IMO that could energize the league.

And hopefully make TM and the administration realize they have no choice but to loosen restrictions in order to compete.

technically they are still the reigning champs ,not looking forward to Pitino's defensive press .

technically they are still the reigning champs Yes. Iona's string of MAAC Tourney Championships is still intact since there wasn't a MAAC Tourney this year. But the championship banner for '19-'20 will hang at the TUC.

By all accounts , he is a top 10 if not top 5 coach in the country before his fallout ..Pretty amazing he'll be in the MAAC

technically they are still the reigning champs ,not looking forward to Pitino's defensive press . It will only be for a couple of years. I think this is a good risk for Iona. Can't imagine Pitino has any intention of becoming a lifer at Iona. He will behave himself for a couple of season, rebuild the program, bring a huge amount of excitement to all the opponents gyms and head off to $greener$ BCS pasture as soon as someone comes calling. Then all bets are off. Kudos to the Iona boosters for ponying up the support to help make it happen.

this is what it takes to be top of the MAAC and stay top of the MAAC and Exhibit A as to why the folks who run Marist will never ever take those steps.
I'd kinda sorta probably would rather go Division II than (continue to) play the part of the Washington Generals in this traveling show.

I'd kinda sorta probably would rather go Division II than (continue to) play the part of the Washington Generals in this traveling show. Maybe the next president will view the risk/reward of MBB differently than DM does. That is where the change in vision needs to originate. DM was a young president trying to save a struggling local college when Marist was hit with the NCAA violations and probations. He built the place up to a regional academic power and probably had flashbacks when Martin trashed the APR. Until that institutional memory is gone from power, or his board of trustees goes rogue on him, I don't see them taking any risks necessary to be a top MAAC team.
