Within the past 24 hours the coronavirus has effected many sporting events (and even in the past few hours its really went up)
- All winter sports will have no fans at championships - Many conference tourneys have go to no/limited fans - The ivy cancelled all spring sports - Many leagues are considering no fans - Rudy Gobert, a Jazz player, tested positive for the virus causing the Jazz Thunder game to be postponed literally as it was it about to top (the med trainer ran onto the court), quarantining the players in the stadium, and causing the NBA to suspend their season
What are the chances there will even be fans at the MAAC semis and finals?

No impact.
The venue is big enough for each of the 5 attendees to effectively self quarantine.

The MAAC presidents are all meeting tomorrow to discuss the COVID-19 impact, I got word on the inside about this.
As far as Marist is concerned, they have extended spring break a week for now, but I think it's only a matter of time before they go the route of what so many other schools have done so far.

MAAC decided last night that going forward NO fans at the BBall tournament games. Just cancelled hotel reservation. That sucks. But I guess they'd rather be safe than sorry.

the Patriot League has followed the Ivy League vis-a-vis cancelling all spring sports. I think already a couple dozen D3 schools have done the same.
Hopefully we hear soon one way or the other what the MAAC will do.

I know the Ivy decision to cancel spring sports was based at least in part on the likelihood that students would not be on campus, so no possibility of practice, etc. Columbia, for one, has announced today that all classes will be taught remotely for the remainder of the semester and students are "encouraged" to vacate the undergraduate dorms if at all possible.

I really hope they at least finish the MAAC tournament, even if they cancel the NCAAs, at least give the kids that much.
