Yankee our programs are mediocre consistently that is it. You glorify that. Defending someone from not getting fired from his profession is not glorifying the programs. I will glorify the way the athletes represent the University and how they perform academically. This is college, not a professional sport. There is more than how a men's basketball team performs for the job of the ATHLETIC director, Yeay, participation trophies for everyone. Even in college!

Yes because TM has done a piss poor job and needs to go. I hope he has a happy life and gets another job elsewhere, but I want him out of this one. Dennis Murray has shown he cannot be trusted to run an athletic program that is both academically and athletically successful, so no I do not trust him to do what is right 10 years after he should have. Sure, it is not a professional sport, but the goal is both. To have kids graduate and to have the program win games. Fail at either and the program is in bad straits. Good job on the first bit, but the second bit is far and away a failure. Nothing has been done to stem the tide there with the program consistently excavating the bottom.
Considering the players who have lashed out at the men's basketball team after leaving, it is clear that even if one wants to lower the bar from winning games to providing a good learning/bonding/building experience for young men, the program is an abject failure. TM cannot be defended and I'm honestly fed up with reading Yankee's bootlicking comments in his defense. I'm sure he's a great guy, but he's a horrific AD. I'm sorry, but he should be in a job he could actually be good at.

I don't blast you for frothing at the mouth trying to get a well respected member of this community fired. I won't pretend I haven't done so in the past with some head coaches. I did, so I won't condemn you for doing so. There are valid reasons TM should stay. If you want a men's basketball director, why don't you donate the funds to the school and request they hire one. They have a good athletic director. Those now attacking D. Murray? Really?

" better by campaigning for someone to get fired?" - Don't ever use that as an argument, you "campaigned" for a number of people at Marist to be fired over the years, most vigorously.

It's disappointing that the Marist athletics program is consistently average and unspectacular when the rest of the school seems to have grown by leaps and bounds since I went there. I appreciate the fact that D Murray values education more than anything. This is why I went there and that should be the priority. But I don't think it's controversial to say we could be doing so much better in athletics. MAAC is a shit-tier league - we SHOULD be dominating the MAAC.

Marist was dominating the commissioners cup until Monmouth and quinny joined. Even in a down cycle, Marist was in top 4 overall maac. Marist athletics can improve, no doubt. But are they wear an AD should be fired? Nope.

I don't think TM has been the heaping failure that others seem to think, but he has been at the helm for 25 years. Maybe it's time for fresh blood. I think Marist's standards have to go up in athletics. If you look at the rest of the school, there have been significant improvements. I don't see that happening under the current regime for athletics.
If TM hadn't gotten Giorgis, what would we have to hold our hats on to from the last two decades? An NFL kicker who probably learned more outside of the program than in it? Does one good hire make up for the rest?

First paragraph a reasonable argument, though I disagree. 2nd paragraph is silly hyperbole. They have double digit commissioners cups in that time frame. Do other athletes matter? Or should the college only sorry about men's basketball?

The Commissioners Cup is a participation trophy - we won it last year but only won 3 MAAC titles - of which 1 was Water Polo (only 3 MAAC schools compete) and 1 was W - Rowing where on 4 MAAC schools compete. Our only legit Championship was Men's Lax
Monmouth won 8 MAAC titles, Iona 5 - Im sure they would trade all those in for a Commissioners Cup
