No way no how. We don’t need a SG with one year left, has to sit a year, and averaged 3.9 ppg last year.
If you recruit this guy it would tell me all is hopeless

You ask me today - I'd say No. Nothing has changed since last year to make me think we can win games. Best thing that has happened to Marist this offseason is good players from other teams have transferred.
Not the greatest strategy hoping the other teams fall back to us rather than us catching up to them

Manhattan is out here landing 30-game starters at A10 programs, but I'm sure we'll beat out Bentley or Stonehill to fill one of these 3 open scholarships that nobody seems to want, eventually, probably

I'd say Byrd was a nice addition. They had nobody close to his explosiveness on the team last year.
So here we go again. I doubt it's Dunne doing anything wrong. Is it the school? The city? The lack of a fancy arena? Dunne didn't coach in all of those lousy seasons.
Why would lousy seasons under different coaches matter to a recruit? It has to be the way the program is run by the higher ups.
Siena had no trouble getting players after their bad runs with Beyer and Lanier. It's not the coach. I know. They are free to take anyone they want.

But I agree we need a couple newcomers to be impact players next year. Not stars (would be nice), but solid 15-25 minute rotational players.

That is why we need a dedicated connected recruiting specialist with metro area ties. I know nomar says no every time. But why was it ok for Iona. Why is ok for st. Peter's. Why other schools? Why not marist? Can't hurt. Obviously finances might make it moot now. But if not, let's try that.

I think it's the MAAC in general declining. 5 All MAAC players transfered out, and teams not named Iona are having trouble filling out their rosters SPU - 5 open spots Canisius - 4 open Niagara, Fairfield, Marist - 3 open QU, Siena - 2 open It was what, 5 years ago Monmouth almost had an at-large bid? This year Siena or St. Peter's would've been in the 16 seed play in game

The MAAC is declining because their are more schools D1 then there were 10 years ago. Stony Brook, Albany, Buffalo in NY come to immediate mind.
Athletics have grown the rewards have grown and schools outside the MAAC are investing more $$$ in facilities, coaches, recruiting etc.
Schools in the MAAC either do not have the resources to keep up (SPU, CU, NU) or are just not willing to invest the $$$ (Marist).
Siena and Iona are the few exceptions.
The fact that Ensor still has a job speaks volumes about the MAAC Presidents who employ him.

Yankee - you are just talking about a title change - nothing more. There is no magical person who can change the recruiting culture at Marist. I kills me that you really think there is a guy A) who is such a great recruiter he can get some top player to pick Marist B) that is a guy is that good we could afford him.....
To think that is the issue is a freaking joke.....

Ya know what - forget what I said.
If you can't bring in good assistant coaches with connections to the area's elite AAU programs, who can sell Marist then YES we need a Specialist. We fire a coach and bring someone on.
There is NO reason a HC doesn't take that into account when hiring assistant coaches - if none of them are "expert" recruiters, if none of them have the connections in the area with AAU programs, and if none of them can close - then fire them ALL and start over.
