Not sure if they are looking for one, but if they could find a senior grad transfer who could start at PG and allow byrd to play 16-20 mpg freshman year, that would be perfect. Coach Driscoll has always been honest when talking to me about this team's roster and it seems the staff thinks Byrd will be " the man " from day 1, big minutes.

Lightning quick with great shooting mechanics. Can stop on a dime.

I've seen Byrd play live in Philly this season, and can confirm, he was the best player on the floor. Definitely on the smaller side, but doesn't play like it. I don't like the comparisons to Morton. He's definitely a little bigger/more filled out, and has that Philly toughness you can't teach.
3-star on 247 with some nice offers, this is a big-time get. We need a true floor general and that's exactly what his game screams. Hope that translates to the MAAC level.

Plenty of great small point guards in college basketball . maybe a Calvin Murphy type player .

I've been saying all along that despite the results - this is the coaching staff that's going to get this program on track. Driscoll and Serge can really recruit. We are involved with real college basketball players that have played against actual competition that our coaches have seen in-person (as opposed to offering overseas kids based on youtube highlights). And Dunne can coach. period.
Don't just get mad after a loss, look big picture at whats going on, the program is trending up.

Khalil Johnson has picked up offers from Arkansas-Pine Bluff and McNeese State.
Mohamed Wague has added an offer from Canisius.

A huge victory for Hakim Byrd and his Neumann-Goretti squad in the Philly Catholic League Final, held at the Cathedral of College hoops aka The Palestra. Goretti 66, Roman Catholic 58.
Now for the better stuff...
Byrd dropped 12 in the game including 4 rebounds, a couple assists and two clutch free throws to close the game with 45 seconds left. The best way I'd describe his play tonight: a bouncy, poised leader.
Had an all-around solid game alongside Cameron Young (Bowling Green commit) who dropped 22. Goretti also has Jordan Hall who is committed to St. Joe's, only had 5 points. Byrd was the third-highest scorer on the team. His ball handling is really impressive. He's an excellent foul shooter. Pull-up game seems to be exceptional as well. He's creative and CAN get his own shot at this level... something we need more of. The height is why he isn't receiving big-time interest, I'd guess he's somewhere around 5'9", but he's got an athletic build. Just gives off the confident/winner vibe on the court as do his teammates. Pretty cool to see one of our own cutting down a net and holding a trophy -- hopefully a sign of things to come.

Here's a good look at the bounce I'm alluding to.
