Lacrosse 2-4
(M) 7-8-2
(M) Tennis 7-3
(M) Swimming 5-5-1

Wow, never thought the protection would go this far. I have no skin in this game, but I disagree wholeheartedly.

Is your point that all these programs that are suffering have head coaches not doing the job as well?

No - we know what Lacrosse did last year. I have not done a coaching turnover analysis yet - but i can say Mens Soccer has been awful for decades with out a coaching change.

When you look closer - it might not be as bad as records - the Baseball field is a joke - there are NO stands or real dugouts for players (at least last time I saw it), we know the basketball facilities short comings - while not awful certainly not a recruiting selling point (compared to Monmouth or Quinnipiac)
Our stadium and field are top notch. Soccer (IMO) should be doing a hell of a lot better especially with all the talent that is around NY/NJ/CT - the coach is in 9th season with 1 winning record.
Lacrosse M - greatest season ever last year including a Home NCAA tourney game
Lacrosse W - our coach has been names MAAC Coach of the Year 2 times (6 years at helm)
Soccer W - one NCAA tourney appearance 2011 (she is in her 4th year)
I know that basketball is #1 - but I also feel we should be competing year in and year out in ALL MAAC sports - Marist just has too much to offer not to be getting better athletes all around.

Here is my theory. Compared to MAAC schools our academics are high, so the good athletes with poor grades can't get in to Marist and go to Iona and such. For good athletes with good grades our competition is super stiff: PL schools, IVY schools, Syracuse, BC, UCONN, SUNY Albany, SUNY Stony Brook are schools that come to mind.
I think we do fairly well competing for student athletes in all sports except MBB. That is where we fail miserably and need to change our philosophy IMO.

I agree soccer should be better. So much talent in this and the surrounding area.

Thought of revisiting this topic.
Overall the Marist spring sports have fared well and with a couple of league championships (M Lax; M Ten; W SB; even WWP) we may have put ourselves in contention for another Com Cup.

Men's Lacrosse must be close to a record for bonehead penalties with a lead resulting in a loss. Chippy and immature play IMO. Radin has a case to sue the defense for non-support. The guys play is amazing.
Men's Soccer has been MIA for years.

Soccer's motto was ...."it didn't matter if we win or lose just as long as we have a place to either celebrate our victory or drown our defeat"

TM's fault? The only area where I see a blatant inexcusable fireable failure is.....well we all know. All the good he has done is negated by MBB. It is that bad. IMO when you weigh good vs bad they cancel out. I am neutral he stays, he goes, whatever.

Prior to the Softball and Men's Rowing championships, Marist was in firm control of 2nd place in MAAC CC race. Add the women's 2nd place finish, is it enough to overtake Monmouth??? Baseball is the only sport outstanding . . . Go Foxes!!!!

Softball goes to #13 Tennessee. The game is Friday night in ESPN2 at 7pm. Great exposure for the program and they will represent.
Go Red Foxes!!!

Baseball roars into the MAAC tournament by getting swept by Siena in a 3 game set to finish the year under .500. Other than MBB no other program has gone back as far as Baseball.
I know they want to pay peanuts to run the program, but the used to be good.
