Baring injury, and/or unless politics rears its ugly head, I think the is going make the opening day roster. He certainly seems to be passing the "eye" test with the media, and the "big play ability" observation keeps coming up..

DAVIE — In recent years, officials and coaches at Marist College found their football landscape dwindling as financially strapped rivals dropped the sport. With its president, a former college football player, saying that would never happen at Marist, the school dug in on its commitment and was rewarded with a split of the Pioneer League championship last season. Every player who puts on a uniform for the Red Foxes has similar decisions to make because Marist doesn’t award athletic scholarships. For Terrence Fede, not being highly recruited meant that rather than a university investing in him, he had to invest in himself. He took out loans to cover tuition, and although he majored in business marketing, he admits, “I really didn’t have a backup plan” for a career.
NFL or bust, in other words.
That gamble is paying off for Fede and the Dolphins, who by selecting the defensive end in the seventh round this spring became the first team to draft a player from Marist, a small private school in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Is Fede (pronounced fuh-DAY) a polished product? Hardly. But his size (6-feet-4, 282 pounds) and athleticism have raised hopes that general manager Dennis Hickey uncovered a rookie whose potential is as immense as the player himself.
“He never stopped playing,” coach Joe Philbin said. “He kept going until the whistle. It wasn’t always textbook. It wasn’t necessarily always pretty or the exact right technique, but the guy kept coming.”
Fede’s determination is important to every NFL borderline hopeful now wearing a Red Foxes uniform. They are counting on Fede to prove to scouts that Marist is a destination. Players check on his progress every day and even bought the NFL exhibition package so they could gather as a group to watch Dolphins pre-season games.
“All of the teammates are hitting me up daily,” Fede said. “ … They were all excited. And they’re just telling me to keep up the good work, and I appreciate it. It’s not pressure. I’m honored to be (representing) my school, being the first person to go out and do good things on the NFL level. I just want to keep it up and give the future guys a chance.”
Then there are hopes abroad. Fede is of Haitian descent. Speaks Creole. Even though he grew up in New York, such is the interest that following Tuesday’s practice, a reporter from Haitian TV finished an interview with what hardly can be labeled a question: “Don’t let me down!” Fede laughed.
“There was a little underdog feeling,” he said.
There were times he struggled, seemed outmatched. Things had to change.
“I was just tired of not getting off the ball,” he said. “So I was just like, ‘You know, I’m just going to look at the first key and I’m just going to get off the ball real fast and whatever happens after that, happens.”
Marist defensive coordinator Scott Rumsey sees parallels to the way Fede blossomed in college, describing him as raw and immature his first couple of years.
“Spring ball of his sophomore year, he really came into his own,” Rumsey said. “We started saying, ‘This guy may have a shot. This could be for real.’ ”
Fede began to see it, too. To that point, “He would take some plays off,” Rumsey said. “Then, his junior and senior year, that never happened.”
The Dolphins can thank the Jets. One day, a member of the Jets’ player development department visited a Marist practice.
“See that guy?” Rumsey told Fede. “He’s from the Jets. He’s going to make a decision today whether you can play in the NFL or not.”
Head coach Jim Parady said, “He really took to understanding the game and working at his craft to get to the next level. He was always a good athlete running around, but you could see it clicking with him: ‘I think I have a chance here.’ ”
The Dolphins took a chance with the 234th selection in the draft. Terrence Fede took a chance when he signed those loan forms.
For both sides, it’s paying off.

He was "inactive" last week. I believe due to minor leg injury suffered in 2nd pre-season game. Hopefully, he's well enough to play this weekend and he can solidify he place on the 53 man roster.
My fingers & toes are crossed.
