Well I will say this while this is about as unimpressive OCC schedule as one can get it is what we need this year. This gives us a good chance to actually win some of these OCC games

You would think that if you are traveling that far it would be for a guarantee game at GA Tech, Florida St or U. of Miami.

I just have no idea what to expect this coming year - i got no idea what we can expect from players and the recruiting class seems to be a lot of 6-5 and under shooters.... my uneducated thoughts are
I look at 4 players who i think are capable of All-MAAC honors and they types of players who we need to take us to top 4 teams in the MAAC
1 - K. Hart 6-2 (PG) - our only All-MAAC player starting next year and I do think he will play his RS year at Marist (at least I hope of course that might all depend on how they respond this year)
2 - KJ Lee 6-4 (PG) - thought he showed the most promise out of the Freshman class last year and I am hoping a Soph jump is in the picture - problem is he is behind our #1 player
3- B. Parker 6-3 (SG) - i think this was an above MAAC level recruit who had tons of interest and offers form other schools, think this was a great get by Maker
4- I. Lamb 6-5 (SF) - another guy I think was a steal with tons of interest for other DI schools - BIG question is will he RS his Fr year?
After that are real questions (I know well Lamb & Parker are questions too I'm just going by what i have been able to read on them and # of other offers they had)
Knudsen is listed as a 6-5 (SG) - that means he takes up same space as Parker and Lamb, coming from Europe just no idea how his game will transition. Funk 6-5 (SG/SF) - late offers from other MAAC schools but AGAIN listed as same position as Parker & Lamb Daugherty & Clyburn - there seems to be different opinions as to whether or not they are walk-ons or not - as walk-ons they would provide valuable depth, if using up scholarships not as excited as they too take up the SG/SF positions something which we seem to be collecting at a rapid rate.
Our 2 Seniors make up the PF/C positions
Lawrence 6'7" (F) averaged 8.4 ppg and will our #2 best player at start of the year Troug '10" (C) - only person listed over 6'10" and the center position - and we know what his short falls are.
Then our Soph Class - this is where I'm not as optimistic as some - I know a lot for people seem to like McClenaghan's game but he averaged on 2.0 ppg last year and that isn't the kind of player who will help transform a program.
The rest of the bunch Griffen, Momah, Brooks, and McClenaghan combined for 5.3 ppg - I can not get excited about any of them, if any of them showed the ability at all to have a 10 point scoring game then I might be more optimistic, but I/m not
Which is why while I do not see a lot of wins this year I am looking for Parker and Lamb (and maybe another surprise) to rack up a few rookie or player of the week awards. I would also like to see a spike the our 3 point shooting percentage.

The squad just keeps getting younger and less experienced and there aren't enough upperclassman to avoid throwing the young guy to the wolves for big minutes. They either improve to the point where they can contribute competitive minute, or it gonna get even uglier. I don't discount the freshman but like Nomar sez indications are that only Parker and Lamb were heavily recruited and there is no reason for Marist to rush Lamb onto the court after his injury last winter.

Unless injury rears it's ugly head in a big way, this year's team will be a lot better. Hart is a stud, Parker is a Hart quality player, Lawrence looks a lot better this year than he has in the past, Lamb looks really good, and really close to being back in action, KJ Lee is no longer a frosh, Knudsen looks to be better than Lee, Troug, though still limited, is stronger, tougher, and more experienced than he was last year, and Funk can actually play. McClenaghan is stronger, and more experienced as well. Perhaps more importantly, the team understands what Maker wants from them. They understand the system better. They should be a lot better this year.
