I was very happy to be in attendance last night. The first half was a clinic of the way a Maker team can play. As he gets more players who fit the system, I expect that we will see many games like that first half played. It is so great to see some real evidence that the "Maker offense" is starting to get instilled in the team. It is a lot of fun to play his offense, when run correctly, and a whole lot of fun to watch. Hopefully, the win last night will carry over into a win on Thursday. Even one win at the tournament would help this program a lot.

You cement our belief in Maker Toad. He's put them in position to win all year long. What do you think of connor McClenaghan? I think he is a nice player. He's showing little signs of becoming confident. A little more strength in the off-season and he and Truog can be very capable. They'll need him to think offense next year. I'm hoping Obi develops so that they have a board machine. He's got the length. Phil Lawrence had two nice buckets. A mid-range jumper and a nice little drive. I like it when he's more than dunks and threes. I think that a guy that has really been solid is KJ Lee. He plays more under control than some of the seniors. He rarely turns it over. He does tower over a lot of the smaller guards. I think he's a nice piece. Work on his outside shot and look to take advantage of mismatches next yr. Although, I believe they said he was 7-15 from three. Not bad. I think Parker is one of those guys that can step right in and play. He's got Maker's "basketball IQ". And we know he's faced top notch comp. We love his clips. Unlike some of our other romances, we know he's looking good against guys that are MAAC level or higher. Let's face it. If they had shot all yr like they did in the first half Friday(or even close), they'd be in the top half of the MAAC this year. That's why we know he's the guy. He can get them the shots. They need to do their part and make them. Both of his recruits are athletic and have great shooting mechanics. Thad bodes well.

Having had some experience watching Maker's teams play, I'm looking forward to the day when the men's games at McCann wil be so much fun to watch that the place will be rocking. I am certain that day is coming, with how fast the roster can be supplemented with key new players being the major factor in how long the process will take. The first year, nearly completed, was always going to be the most difficult year, simply because it takes some time to teach the offense, and change the culture. The fact that the three major injuries were to the two most important players and a key complementary player, just added to the pain. Next year may start slowly, but I'll be very surprised if it doesn't end well. I know that some important players are graduating, but the offset to that is the the team now knows what the coaches want. There will be a lot more learning and practicing in the off-season, and the new recruited players will help. The team will still be a work in progress next year, but I look for a nice, steady, improvement, with the occasional game looking, all 40 minutes of it, like the first half on Friday.
I like McClenaghan. I think he will be good, particularly as an upper classman. This is a very big summer for McClenaghan, Lee, and any other young player who want to be a part of the team moving forward.
