And if this happens, Lee is our next head coach. Bower best not leave after 1 year. Everything I have seen about him shouts loyalty and being a good guy.

JB made it a point to mention that one of the reasons the Marist job appealed to him was the opportunity to move his family out of an urban environment and to be closer to their summer home further upstate. Nothing screams "URBAN" louder than Detroit these days. I know money talks, but picking up from the Hudson Valley for Dysfunction Junction would be a "180" of epic proportions....to be kind. Just don't see it.

It would make him look bad, but if offered, how does he turn that type of money down? Again, normally I wouldn't be concerned. But for this writer to bring up Bower out of nowhere when he isn't that big of a name is just odd. I am guessing Bower was mentioned to him by someone in the know in that organization.

He turns it down because he has already made more money then he thought he would in a lifetime... He turns it down for quality of life with family... He turns it down because he came to Marist accomplish something and doesn't look like the guy who goes back on his word that guy is at JMU..
Also he uses the fact that he is still being talked about in NBA circles as a recruiting tool for 2015

At best a double-edged sword on the recruiting trail. Especially since he is so early in his tenure at Marist and in the midst of a huge rebuilding process. The staff could do without outside chatter influencing a potential recruits thinking no matter how flattering the source

I would hope if he needed an extra $50,000 extra per yr to keep him for 10 yrs, they'd give him what he needs. I still can't ever imagine money being an object. If they're good. the extra fannies in the seat pay the extra $50,000. Hell. By being bad, they lost a minimum of $10,000 per game. That's why I don't think money should ever be a reason for not getting a guy. If they're consistently good, he could make $300,000 a yr for 10-15 yrs. They're probably paying him $250,000 a yr now. Plus the camp.
Hopefully, that rumor just goes away. I like this recruiting class. I don't think he would have come here if he was gonna jump at another NBA job right away.

Pistons off to a horrific start, coach sniping about his players, Van Gundys sniping at each other. I liked Bower, still love what he did for them as an assistant, but part of me is not sad Pistons are struggling.
